Dow Inc. is exploring an exit from its $20 billion Sadara Chemical Co. joint venture with Saudi Aramco. The company is restructuring its portfolio amid a prolonged downturn in the global chemical industry.
Dow currently holds a 35% stake in the Sadara venture. Saudi Aramco owns the remaining 65% of the integrated chemical complex in Jubail.
The partners established the Saudi Arabian facility in 2011. Discussions remain in preliminary stages, and Dow may ultimately decide to retain its position.
Potential buyers include Saudi Aramco or other strategic and financial investors.
