Denison Mines announced that the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation (PBCN) has withdrawn its judicial review against the Wheeler River uranium project. The PBCN now formally consents to the development and operation of the site in northern Saskatchewan.
This resolution removes a significant legal and social-risk hurdle for the largest undeveloped uranium project in the eastern Athabasca Basin. The project hosts the high-grade Phoenix and Gryphon deposits.
Denison serves as the project operator with a 90% ownership stake. JCU (Canada) Exploration Company holds the remaining 10% interest.
The company has secured all necessary provincial and federal environmental approvals and a construction licence. Site preparation and early construction work began in March 2026.
Denison targets the first production from the Phoenix operation for 2028.
