The Walt Disney Company's ESPN and Lucasfilm are partnering with the NFL to produce Star Wars Funday Football, a real-time animated alternate telecast of Super Bowl LXI set in the Star Wars galaxy. The special will air on Disney+, Disney Channel and Disney XD on February 14, 2027, alongside the traditional game broadcast.
The presentation will combine live NFL action, recreated in animation, with characters and settings from the Star Wars universe. Data visualization technology will transform players into animated avatars in real time.
The initiative aims to attract a broader family audience. Disney is using its sports and entertainment brands to create a distinct viewing experience and drive engagement across its streaming and cable platforms.
