DoorDash announced DoorDash Air, its own drone delivery service, at its Dash Forward 2026 event. The company unveiled a quiet, six-propeller aircraft designed in-house to handle approximately 80% of typical restaurant orders.
The move builds on DoorDash’s earlier drone delivery partnerships with operators including Wing and Flytrex. Pilot programs are set to begin in Northern California with partners including Chipotle and Popeyes.
DoorDash received FAA Part 135 air carrier certification in July 2026. The company said it designed the system around existing restaurant workflows to make adoption easier.
Early tests showed average delivery times of under five minutes, though those times are not guaranteed.
