AI cloud provider CoreWeave is looking to tap insurers’ large pools of capital to finance its rapid expansion. The effort, led by co-founder Brannin McBee, aims to secure cheaper funding for the company’s heavy spending on Nvidia chips and data-center capacity. McBee called access to the insurer market, which he described as holding “all the money in the world,” a key part of CoreWeave’s strategy.

To attract insurers, CoreWeave is seeking investment-grade ratings for more of its chip-backed debt and, eventually, for the company itself. It has raised more than $35 billion in 2026 through debt and equity instruments. Its debt and lease obligations totaled approximately $52 billion at the end of June. The company recently secured an $8.5 billion investment-grade loan backed by its chips and a contract with Meta.
