Capita plc is facing a new review by the UK’s National Audit Office (NAO) over its administration of the Civil Service Pension Scheme (CSPS). [2, 9] On October 2, 2026, the outsourcing firm acknowledged that its performance has not met the standards required by scheme members and the government. [5, 10] The review follows a previous NAO investigation in June 2025, adding to pressure on Capita over the high-profile contract. [9]

The NAO highlighted repeated failures to meet key service levels. As a result, members have been unable to access information or receive payments on time. [10]

Capita said remediation is its top priority and that it is introducing further automation and stronger governance to improve the service. [5] The company also pledged to cooperate fully with the review. [5]
