Coinbase and global payments network Thunes announced a strategic partnership on October 19, 2026, to connect their respective infrastructures. The collaboration will link Coinbase’s stablecoin solutions with Thunes’ global fiat payment network.
Coinbase will integrate Thunes’ Direct Global Network, giving it access to local banking systems and mobile wallets in over 140 countries. The integration will make it easier for Coinbase customers to send funds across borders, particularly to regions with limited access to traditional banking. Thunes will use Coinbase’s infrastructure to enhance its stablecoin capabilities.
The companies aim to streamline cross-border transactions, including enterprise payments, gig worker payouts, and international remittances. By combining digital asset technology with traditional payment rails, they aim to support faster, smoother global money movement and expand the real-world use of stablecoins.
