CG Semi Private Limited has started commercial production at its Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Sanand, Gujarat. The joint venture partners include CG Power and Industrial Solutions, Japan's Renesas Electronics, and Thailand's Stars Microelectronics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the launch event to signal the project's national importance.
The facility serves as a cornerstone of the 'India Semiconductor Mission.' Total investment for this site and a second planned facility exceeds ₹7,600 crore (approximately $870 million) over five years.
Initial capacity allows for the packaging of 200 million to 300 million chips annually. The plant supplies components to the automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics sectors. CG Semi will export these chips to global markets including Japan, the US, and Europe.
