OpenAI is reportedly preparing a new ChatGPT subscription tier called Pro Max, priced at around $500 per month. The plan would target professional developers and power users who need maximum speed for long-running, complex tasks, with “Fastest Work and Codex” capabilities.
The high-performance tier could use Cerebras Systems’ specialized wafer-scale AI computing infrastructure. OpenAI and Cerebras have an existing multi-year partnership, announced in January 2026, to integrate Cerebras’ low-latency hardware.
OpenAI has not officially confirmed the subscription. Reports say evidence of the Pro Max tier appeared in ChatGPT’s subscription interface.
