Blackstone President and COO Jonathan Gray said the firm aims to increase its investments in India from $50 billion to $100 billion over the next five years. He cited the country’s strong economic momentum, with growth of over 7%, and robust capital markets as key drivers of the strategy.
Gray said India’s capital markets are likely second only to those of the U.S. in liquidity and ease of listing a company. Blackstone has completed 14 IPOs of its portfolio companies in India.
The firm is exploring opportunities across digital and physical infrastructure, real estate, financial services, healthcare and manufacturing. Its plans aim to capitalize on India’s growing middle class and economic expansion.
