Blackstone has closed its latest energy transition fund, Blackstone Energy Transition Partners V (BETP V), at its $8.7 billion hard cap. The fund was significantly oversubscribed. It is more than 50% larger than its predecessor, reflecting strong investor confidence in the sector.

BETP V will target control-oriented equity investments in companies supporting the shift to cleaner, more reliable energy. Blackstone sees a generational opportunity in rising global electricity demand, driven in part by the expansion of AI data centers. Its strategy focuses on developing new power generation, modernizing transmission infrastructure and improving energy efficiency.

BETP V began its investment period in June and has funded three platform companies: Kindle, Fisterra and Viridon. It has also completed three acquisitions focused on energy efficiency and infrastructure resiliency.
