Blackstone-backed data center operator AirTrunk announced an additional $1 billion investment in its hyperscale data center campus in Inzai, Japan. The investment will focus on deploying liquid-cooling technology to meet rising demand from AI workloads.

AirTrunk CEO Robin Khuda said geopolitical factors are prompting more customers to consider Japan for their North Asian data center needs. He added that Asia could benefit as deploying AI infrastructure becomes more challenging in the US and Europe.

The investment reflects Blackstone’s continued focus on digital infrastructure and the growing AI sector.
