Berkshire Hathaway increased its Alphabet (GOOGL) holdings by 83% during the second quarter of 2026. The firm now owns approximately 106 million shares. This position reached a valuation of nearly $38 billion by the end of June. Alphabet now ranks as the third-largest holding in Berkshire’s U.S. stock portfolio.
CEO Greg Abel advanced this strategy originally initiated by Warren Buffett. Abel oversaw a $10 billion private placement purchase of Alphabet shares in June. This investment targets the AI sector despite Berkshire's historical caution regarding technology stocks.
The firm also established new positions in housing stocks like D.R. Horton. Berkshire increased its existing stakes in Lennar. The company reduced its exposure to various banks and steel companies during the same period. These changes followed Berkshire's most significant quarter of stock purchasing in years.
