Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) reported a net income of P32.8 billion for the first half of 2026. This figure represents a 0.4% decrease from the P33.0 billion earned during the same period last year. Total revenues rose 12.4% year-over-year to P104 billion. Net interest income grew by 12.5% during the period.
Provisions for credit losses surged 84% to P13.3 billion. BPI attributed the reserve increase to a weaker macroeconomic outlook. Operating expenses increased 13.8% to P48.6 billion. Higher costs stemmed from investments in personnel, technology, and business volume. The non-performing loan ratio remained stable at 2.42%.
