The Bank of Nova Scotia announced on October 2, 2026, that it received approval from the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) to expand its share buyback program.
The bank may now repurchase up to 40 million common shares for cancellation, up from 15 million. The new limit represents approximately 3.25% of its issued and outstanding common shares.
As of August 31, 2026, Scotiabank had repurchased more than 13 million shares under the previous limit. The amended normal course issuer bid takes effect on October 6, 2026, and runs until April 6, 2027, or until the bank reaches the maximum share count.
