BlackRock’s China fund management unit received a Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor (QDII) license on September 19. This approval marks the first time a newly established, wholly foreign-owned public fund has secured the qualification.

The license enables BlackRock to provide Chinese investors with access to foreign assets. This move follows two expansions of the overall QDII quota by Chinese regulators in 2026.

The total approved QDII quota reached over $183 billion by August. BlackRock is now positioned to capture growing demand from Chinese domestic institutions for global investment diversification. No immediate market reaction followed the announcement.
