Alibaba Group’s T-Head unit launched the Zhenwu V900 accelerator. Alibaba describes the hardware as China's most powerful AI chip. CEO Eddie Wu introduced the chip at the annual Apsara Conference. The processor delivers triple the performance of its predecessor.

Clusters can aggregate up to 500,000 units to train frontier AI models. Alibaba plans to expand data center capacity to over 20 gigawatts. The company aims to reach this capacity target by 2032.

This development provides a domestic alternative to foreign technology amid US export controls. The chip positions Alibaba as a direct competitor to Nvidia.
