Federal regulators fined American Express $350 million over what they described as widespread, systemic failures in the company’s anti-money-laundering programs. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Federal Reserve took parallel actions to address the long-standing problems.
The OCC said the failures allowed about $13 billion in suspected trade-based money laundering to go undetected over the past 10 years. American Express shares fell nearly 2% in after-hours trading following the announcement.
American Express’s $0.95 quarterly dividend has an ex-dividend date of October 9, 2026. The dividend is payable November 10, 2026, to shareholders of record on October 9. The company’s Board of Directors declared the dividend on September 28, 2026.
