ASML Holding N.V. said on October 15, 2026, that it could face a supply shortfall for its advanced chip-making machines in 2027 and 2028 as demand accelerates with the artificial intelligence boom. Its current supply plans are insufficient to meet requests from customers including TSMC, Samsung and Intel. ASML is the exclusive manufacturer of essential extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography equipment.
ASML raised its 2026 sales forecast to between €44 billion and €45 billion. Its previous low-end estimate was €43 billion. Chief Executive Officer Christophe Fouquet said customers are asking for more tools daily, and the company is exploring ways to expand production beyond the previously communicated 30% increase for 2028.
Customer interest extends to 2029 and 2030. The strong order book has eased some market concerns that the AI investment cycle was losing momentum.
Analyst reactions were mixed. Citigroup and HSBC raised their price targets, while Jefferies and JPMorgan lowered theirs, citing concerns about ASML’s high valuation despite its growth outlook.
