Amazon plans to hire more than 300,000 seasonal workers for the upcoming holiday season. That is a 20% increase from the 250,000 workers it hired in each of the past three years.

The roles include full-time, part-time and seasonal positions across Amazon’s U.S. operations. The broader retail industry is expected to make its fewest holiday hires since 2008.

Seasonal workers will earn an average of $20 per hour. Starting in January, workers in seasonal roles who work at least 30 hours a week will qualify for healthcare benefits.

The hiring plan signals Amazon’s confidence in holiday demand and supports its ongoing expansion of its logistics and fulfillment network.
