América Móvil’s Brazilian unit, Claro, finalized its acquisition of a 72.83% controlling stake in internet provider Desktop S.A., the companies announced on October 1, 2026. The companies first agreed to the deal in March. Claro paid approximately R$1.75 billion, or $335 million, for the stake.
The acquisition expands Claro’s fixed broadband presence, particularly in São Paulo, where Desktop operates a strong fiber-optic network. Claro plans to launch a tender offer for Desktop’s remaining shares and then delist the company.
