Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Microsoft are expanding their strategic partnership to boost artificial intelligence capabilities on the Azure cloud platform. Microsoft will deploy AMD’s upcoming Helios rack-scale solution to power demanding AI workloads. The Helios system integrates next-generation Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs, and Pensando networking technology.
Microsoft will use the Helios system at scale for frontier AI model inference across its internal services and for Azure customers. Azure is also introducing two new virtual machine series featuring AMD’s 6th Gen EPYC Venice processors.
This agreement establishes AMD as a primary supplier for large-scale AI infrastructure in the competitive data center market. Shipments for the new systems are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026.
