AMD CEO Lisa Su said the company continues to explore a partnership with Samsung Electronics covering memory and contract chip manufacturing. Speaking in Seoul on Wednesday, Su pointed to the importance of Korea’s supply chain amid very strong demand for data center products and tight memory chip supply.
The discussions follow a memorandum of understanding signed by the companies in March. It formalized collaboration on memory for AI infrastructure and opened the door to a potential foundry relationship.
A manufacturing deal with Samsung would give AMD a major alternative to its primary chip producer, TSMC, and strengthen its supply chain resilience.
