Air New Zealand and Qantas will end their codeshare partnership on April 7, 2027, as Air New Zealand prepares for a new strategic alliance with Virgin Australia. The agreement began in June 2018.
Under the partnership, Air New Zealand could codeshare on Qantas domestic flights in Australia, while Qantas could codeshare on Air New Zealand domestic flights in New Zealand.
The planned Air New Zealand–Virgin Australia alliance is expected to offer frequent flyer points and status benefits across both airlines’ networks. These are expected to include lounge access, increased baggage allowance and priority services.
