Archer Aviation completed several days of piloted test flights over San Francisco Bay with its all-electric Midnight air taxi. The flights were part of the company’s No Roads tour and included take-offs and landings at Oakland International Airport.
During the demonstration, Midnight flew more than 200 miles. It reached speeds of up to 131 mph.
A flight from Oakland to San Francisco’s Marina District took about 10 minutes. The trip typically takes more than an hour by car, illustrating the aircraft’s potential to cut urban travel times.
The flights are part of Archer’s preparations to operate under the White House’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). The company plans to hold demonstrations in Los Angeles next.
