Crédit Agricole S.A. issued 32 million new shares on August 27 to finalize its 2026 employee share offering. More than 53,000 current and retired staff members participated in the plan. The bank offered these shares at a 20% discount.
High demand led to significant oversubscription during the subscription period from late June to early July 2026. The bank capped the largest subscription orders due to the high volume.
Crédit Agricole now intends to initiate a share buyback program to counteract the resulting capital dilution. This program remains subject to approval from the European Central Bank. Strong participation signals high internal confidence in the French banking giant's future outlook.
