Aberdeen Group plc has appointed Torbjörn Magnusson as a Non-Executive Director and its next Chair, effective September 9, 2026. This appointment concludes the leadership transition following the departure of Sir Douglas Flint. Jonathan Asquith will remain interim Chair until Magnusson receives necessary regulatory approvals.
Magnusson previously served as Chair of Nordea Bank Abp and CEO of the Nordic insurer Sampo Group. His UK market experience includes leading Sampo’s acquisition of Hastings Group.
The Chair position carries an annual fee of £475,000. Aberdeen expects the appointment to drive strategic growth and enhance shareholder value.
