ABB agreed to acquire British valve-actuator manufacturer Rotork PLC for approximately £4.1 billion ($5.5 billion).
The all-cash offer of 506 pence per share represents a 73% premium to the July 15, 2026 closing price. Rotork’s board unanimously recommended that shareholders accept the deal.
The acquisition bolsters ABB’s automation portfolio in mission-critical flow control and instrumentation. The deal strengthens ABB’s position across industrial and infrastructure applications. Rotork will operate as a separate division within ABB’s Automation business area.
The transaction is expected to be immediately accretive to ABB’s operational EBITA margin. The deal will add approximately 3% to the group’s total revenue. ABB will finance the purchase using existing cash and committed bank facilities. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2027, pending shareholder and regulatory approvals.
