A U.S. federal judge on October 27 granted Alibaba Group a preliminary injunction barring the Pentagon from denying contracts to companies because they do business with firms that lobby for Alibaba. The ruling followed the Pentagon’s addition of Alibaba to a list of companies it alleges aid China’s military.
The injunction does not remove Alibaba from the list. It allows the company to retain U.S. lobbyists who also represent Pentagon contractors, a key part of its broader challenge to the designation.
