Tesla Head of AI Ashok Elluswamy announced the company’s Robotaxi service will transition to 24/7 operations. The expansion relies on the v15 technical update scheduled for release next month. This update enables autonomous nighttime driving to improve service utility.
The announcement follows the recent launch of limited Cybercab rides in Austin. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened an audit into the vehicle. Regulators are evaluating the Cybercab’s compliance with federal safety standards because it lacks a steering wheel, pedals, and mirrors.
