Samsung Life Insurance plans to raise up to $1.5 billion through its first-ever sale of overseas hybrid capital securities. If it raises the maximum amount, the sale would be the largest bond issuance by an insurer in South Korea. The company’s board approved the plan on October 7, 2026.

The bonds will have a 30-year maturity. Samsung Life plans to issue them by the end of the year and list them on the Singapore Exchange.

The company intends to use the proceeds for overseas investments and acquisitions to support medium- and long-term growth. The sale would also help Samsung Life manage its capital adequacy proactively and maintain stable shareholder-return policies.
