China’s Yangtze Memory Technologies Corp. (YMTC) became the world’s third-largest NAND flash supplier by shipments in the second quarter of 2026, increasing competition for industry leaders SK hynix and Samsung Electronics.
Counterpoint Research estimates YMTC’s market share at 14% to 16.5%. The company overtook Japan’s Kioxia and U.S.-based Micron.
YMTC’s growth has been supported by its proprietary Xtacking technology and strong domestic demand in China. It has expanded production despite U.S. export controls.
The company is also moving into the high-value enterprise solid-state drive (SSD) market, where demand is being driven by the AI sector. Its rise puts direct pressure on SK hynix in a critical memory segment.
